Updates

Way too long

Its May - over a year later than my last posting to this website. You may ask "What have you been doing?" and I will reply that its a long story. If you really want to know, send me an email and I will tell you more. Anyhow, I have been fortunate to be asked for music for a compliation CD to benefit Children Internation by Raymond Steiner. Find out more about this CD and its efforts by going to homecd.net.

Short and quick update, but more on the way.

PS: My piano is sounding really good, and I plan some recordings this summer - can't wait to hear it.

Spring is on the way

Its March, and even though it came in like a "Lion" (lol - being a Shephard, I was hoping for a little "Lamb" instead) it still will not be long until warm weather is upon us (in Ontario, yet I am sure it is nice warm weather somewhere in the world right now) and I look forward to enjoying walks in the park and camping in nature.

I added some new artwork - still "untitled", so if you think of a title, just respond to me with your thoughts.

Working on some new songs on the piano, and hopefully will record them shortly. I will put up some samples (mp3) up on the website. (visit this new page)

The DVD is getting great reviews, and I am so happy that many like it, and enjoy the different format/style that we created.

Gallery shows of a sample of my art

I recently found a Gallery in Sudbury that invited all artists to submit works for their "Nouveau Louvre" exhibit.

CDBaby - a great supporter of Indie music

My new DVD/DVDROM is available for purchase from CDBaby.com, (click here) and I am always hearing about how this company and person (Derek) supports independant released music, and its wonderful to know that support is out there beside the major labels!

A DVD just released

I decided to release a DVD/DVDROM instead of a typical CD Audio. This new format allows you to see/hear a recorded live performance and you get the mp3 files as well.
Apple iTunes (and many others) now have my albums available for download, and many people have already purchased and are enjoying my songs in this new format.
Its such an exciting world of new technologies, I guess that's why I thought a DVD would be a good idea - a mix between a VHS tape of a performance, and an ability to download the songs directly to your portable player - what could be better (oh, wait - I should mention that I also put the lyrics on the DVD-ROM portion in Adobe Acrobat format)
Many people enjoy reading my lyrics, and the realization that they typically start as poems gave me the idea of adding a creative expression of these poems on the DVD - so we recorded 10 spoken word poems as well as the 6 songs - it's a very different way to express myself, and it was enjoyable - I hope you enjoy it also.
The DVD will be on CDBaby shortly - but in the meantime you can order it directly from me (see the order page)
Summer is almost over (it's only Sept 12 and summer officially ends Sept 21st - or at least that's what they say) and it was a very inspirational one - I had lots of time to write and create - so stay tuned for new songs, and new creative expressions showing up.

Summer 2004

So, its June 2nd 2004 and the weather has finally starting improving. I have been working on many new songs, and I plan on doing up CD-Rs instead of a full production. Also, CDBaby has been putting every Indie artist up on electronic download sites - my songs will be there soon.
More info to come...

Also, I have changed webserver companies, and my email address... send me email at jules@julieshephard.com

Internet Radio - live streaming of my songs

There is an internet radio station playing some of my songs, and some others from friends that I know. Please check it out, and enjoy listening. Click here to listen.

Winter finally has shown up

So here we are finally in the New Year, and here in Toronto we are getting a blizzard. I added the snow flakes to the front page in honor of the white flakes coming down.

I have moved into the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) away from Brampton - its great to be able to move around Toronto and see what a wonderful city it really is all about.

Working on many new songs, and will be releasing an album this year - for certain!!!

What an AMAZING summer

I did end up going to Costa Rica this year - actually in March - but have not had time to get this site updated. Here it is now September, and the summer is nearing an end - but what an amazing summer - hot, humid and sunny for most all of it (Did I really need to go to Costa Rica for a winter break - YES!!) The time spent with Radio U was great, and also had an interview with Oxigeno (FM 104.3) - and one of the best memories was playing on a beach! Will be posting pictures and more in few weeks.

I have signed up with CD Baby - and they are great. This company is really working to help out the Independant Music world - and I am glad to be selling my CDs through them.

Recently I came across some amazing artwork - done by Nissan Engel - the work is inspired by music, and the beauty of his work is not easy to express - so I decided to put a link to his website in my links section. Go and visit his site, and see his wonderful art.

Working away on my new Piano - I have been composing many new songs in some very new styles. The new CD is put on hold till I finish some new work with some local producers - some new styles of music are being developed - stand by.

Spring 2002

So, I thought I would let you know that I am planning a trip to Costa Rica again. It should be soon, and when I get back - I will post up all kinds of info.

Went to Hugh's Room for Tues night Open Stage on Jan 29th.. Very nice place, and enjoyed playing two songs - a new one called "Were you my ride" and the other being "Sea of Love". Click here for more

Also, my website, bio and business card appeared in the Applied Arts Magazine - the Annual Awards issue, pg 24.
Robert Bentzen designed my press kit, and was a judge for the Annual Competition. So, as a judge - some of his work was published in the magazine, and he published my kit. Click here for more

Working very hard right now with several other songwriters, and I hope to share these new songs with you soon. The album plans are coming along, but the release timing has been changing.

We added the little snowflakes when it finally has become a winter-wonderland here in Toronto. The seasons didn't feel right until it snowed, so I put the snowflakes up to make it more fun.

The ISP (hosting company) has changed things around on us, and we have had to switch around a couple of time - hopefully this didn't challenge your situations too much.

Wishing you the best

Just wanted to wish you all the best during this season's festivities. I will be spending some time to relax and then really focus in the New Year on what is going to be included in my next CD. There are so many great songs, and some new ones coming , but I have not decided yet- if you have suggestions, please let me know.
Also, I have been painting over the last couple of years, and have decided to let my creative expression be shown on this website - so, a new section entitled "Artwork" lets you see another side of my creativity. Almost all pieces are for sale, so contact me if you are interested.

Performing for the CIBC Run for the Cure

My father died of Lung Cancer around 3 years ago, and it was a profound loss to me. I have written several songs about this unfortunate time in my life. Recently, I was asked to perform for the Kick-off of the Brampton Local CIBC Run for the Cure, and I will also be performing on the day of the Run on Sept 30th at Chinguacousy Park in Brampton. If you can, please support the Cure efforts for Cancer. I am glad to participate in any way to this cause. Click here for photos from the Kick-off event held on Monday Sept 10th.

On Air Canada

l am fortunate to have my music on Air Canada's flights during the months of September and October. There is a new inflight "channel" - all about Songwriters. One of my songs "Box of Shelter" has been included on this channel, amongst other talents such as Bruce Guthro, Maren Ord, Robbie Williams and others. Click here to know more.

CHIN PICNIC and more

I will be performing at the CHIN Picnic on Friday Night (June 29th) between the Miss and Mr Bikini competitions. It sure will be an exciting night, and I am looking forward to the performance. Check out the schedule on their website www.chinpicnic.com.

The Orangeville Busking Festival is coming up, and I will be one of the performers - so if you can make it out - July 7th in Orangeville - see you there.

I had articles recently written in the Peterborough Examiner and Brampton Guardian - so I have updated the "press" section of the site.

THRILLED - on TV

I will hopefully be on TV tonight - June 6th on CityTV as a result of a Press Meeting about the CHIN Picnic. If you can watch tonight, you will hear about the 35th Annual CHIN Picnic, and I will be performing for the event at the end of June. My schedule will be posted here, and if you can come out to hear me play at the CHIN Picnic - that would be great!

We have added Lyrics to this site, and also a recap of my guestbook so far.

WOW!!

One of my co-writers, Dan McNeil won a competition for songwriting - one of many recent wins.
